Welcome to the 2014 Carmel International Film Festival
As we get closer and closer to the sixth annual Carmel International Film Festival, this event page will be your number one stop to learn more about the exciting events we have planned, which will fill five days of independent film complemented by contemporary art, music, conversations and lecture series, and much more. Specifics will begin to be updated toward the end of summer, so we encourage you to check back often for new information!
Our team of screeners is busy viewing hundreds of films submissions that will be narrowed down to just about a hundred of the best independent films in five different categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary, Short, Animation, and Student.
CIFF gives cash awards for the winner of each category, as well as the winner of our annual screenplay competition. ($10,000 to Best Feature, $7,500 to Best Documentary, $5,000 to Best Screenplay, $1,000 to Best Short, $1,000 to Best Animation, and $1,000 to Best Student.)
Thomas Burns, co-founder of the festival, says, “We are so thrilled to have Brian and his art at the festival this year! ‘Buck’ resonated with us immediately, and we know people are going to respond. Also, this year we are introducing animation as a competitive category, and we were looking for an artist that could communicate the sense of animation and fun. Brian is perfect.” Festival posters, 17 x 17 inches, printed on archival paper, will be available in October.
Women in Film
October 18, 2014
In addition to its primary goal of encouraging and inspiring women working in the creative arts, the CIFF Women in Film Program is also one of the primary fundraisers for the Carmel International Film Festival’s scholarship program. CIFF awards several $2,500 scholarships every year to young film and art students.
The program is truly a celebration of women in the creative arts industries, with a special focus on nurturing the young women who will lead the industry in the future. One seat at every table is reserved for an artistic young woman because we believe all young women deserve a seat at the table.
Last year, the Carmel International Film Festival honored Melonie Diaz as its Breakout Actress of 2013. Check back soon for more information on who will be honored this year.
Tables are selling quickly. If you’re interested, please call 831-625-3700.
At the Carmel International Film Festival, the parties are more than just parties–they are a way of celebrating the community of independent film at the festival. From the Filmmakers Reception to the VIP Cocktail Parties, and everything in between, there is something for everyone. Back by popular demand this year is the Filmmakers’ Beach Bash. With dozens of bonfires dotting the beautiful Carmel beach and some phenomenal food and beverages, the Filmmakers’ Beach Bash is an unforgettable, quintessential Carmel experience. Cheers!
The Carmel International Film Festival’s musical line-up is always an eclectic bash. From young local talent to emerging artists making a name for themselves on the national stage, Carmel International Film is planning another exciting year.
